If you’re good at games, you might also be good ateverything else. That’s according to a new study thatfound two of the world’s most popular video games actlike IQ tests. Those who are the best at them also get thehighest scores on traditional intelligence tests,suggesting that video games might actually make youarter.

Both games-League of Legends and Defence of theAncients 2(DOTA 2)combine strategic thinking withquick reactions, and so could both reward and train upparticular kinds of thinking. That seemed to beconfirmed by the study, which compared people’s levelsof skill in the games with their IQ. The better peoplewere at playing, the more their intelligence score, itfound.

A similar study that looked at chess suggested thatmore conventional games are good markers ofintelligence, too. Professor Alex Wade, from theUniversity of York, said: “Games such as League ofLegends and DOTA 2 are complex, socially-interactiveand intellectually demanding.”

She explainswhy Shen’s book is widely believed suitable for comicbooks’adaptations. “Dreams of the Wolf King becamea bestseller with millions of readers in China way beforeits adaptation into comic books. In fact, many classicchildren’s literature like these are only ailable in thestereotyped written form. But literature can be presentedin different angles and forms. Although Shen is concerned about the decline ofprinted comic books in China, he still points out that“Comic books are easy to read for young kids.
